"The Pain Free Runner should be required reading for every runner."
Having run 30 marathons and some ultramarathons in the last three years, I have incurred my share of overuse injuries. I have read countless books on sports injuries and spent tons of money on physical therapy. I had what some people called a crazy dream of running 100 miles, and I was training religiously for it. During the training, I felt an excruciating pain in my knee that I had never felt before. I could barely walk. I went online and found the book,
The Pain Free Runner. Desperate as I was, I purchased it. I have never made a better purchase in my life. The book explained how to me how injuries originate and how I could treat them myself. I ran the Olander Park 100 mile - and I FINISHED! During the race, I used many of tips from the book about body maintenance, and that really helped me to achieve my goal. I honestly feel that The Pain Free Runner should be required reading for every runner.

"...the techniques you are showing in the books are beyond valuable!!"
I have to say (again) that the techniques you are showing in the books are beyond valuable!! It's funny because I was at a race on Thanksgiving and saw a friend of mine who was doing some trigger point therapy on another friends lower leg. I asked him if he had heard of your book/website. Of course he did! He met you at the NYC Marathon expo and you showed him some techniques for Plantar Facitis. I don't know if you have talked with him since but he did end up finishing the marathon.

"...after ONE treatment I resumed running pain free..."
This is the greatest forum I have ever been a part of! I had knee pain for weeks and after ONE treatment I resumed running pain free, and I have been running for two weeks pain free now. I am glad I did not wait seven months like I did with the shin splints. I tell every runner, or any person with pain for that matter, to check out your forums. The help and information you give out for free is a service that all people could benefit from, and the pain free runner was a priceless investment for me. Thank you so much for your time and your help.
Running pain free,
Mike
"For the first time in 2 weeks my legs feel almost normal."
I don't believe it! For the first time in 2 weeks my legs feel almost normal. Your treatments really work, thanks so much!! I hope it lasts. Considering I did a fairly intense running workout the last two nights, I believe that it will. Tonight is a rest night. Still doing treatments and stretching.
I'll be honest, I was afraid I had a stress fracture or a severely sprained ankle. I never thought that knotted up muscles could cause such discomfort.
My marathon is a week from Sunday.
Thanks, again!
Larry
"After finding your website I felt like I had been set free..."
...the techniques I've learned from your website made it possible for me to complete my first half-ironman this past April. I've been doing tris the past three years being constantly plagued by one injury or the other. After finding your website I felt like I had been set free to really and finally enjoy this crazy sport. Thank-you so much for your invaluable service!

"This is going to be the one of the best books I have!"
I can't believe my abdominal cramps had anything to do with muscles in my legs!!! After many tests came out negative, I was losing hope I'd ever get rid of these cramps. I think this is going to be the one of the best books I have!
I'm definitely going to spread the word about this.

"It is amazing to me that we can treat ourselves!"
I first met Julie Donnelly at Ironman USA in Lake Placid. At the time I had a chronic ankle sprain and iliotibial band irritation from a previous marathon. She showed me in 10 minutes how to self treat my injuries. I was so impressed with my relief from the pain and the return to normal function that I subsequently signed up for her newsletter and have been consistently using her treatment system to treat any of my tight/overused muscles.
It is amazing to me that we can treat ourselves in a relatively short time and thus circumvent many small overuse injuries that would otherwise become big chronic problems with long layoff times! Her system is easy to understand and use without expensive equipment or extensive training and it makes so much sense to treat the causative muscle spasms rather than treating the result (ie, the runner's knee, the pain in the hamstrings, the tight calves, etc.)
Thanks Julie for sharing your knowledge and getting so many of us athletes back in training!!

"I want EVERYBODY to know that they can take care of themselves, and how close they really are to being pain free."
I am an athlete training full-time for the US NAVY SEAL Physical Screening Test. I met Julie Donnelly through my trainer, who also experienced a stunning benefit from Julie's enlightened approach to muscle maintenance. Through her methods and insights I have been able to keep my muscles looser and more durable. I'm better at avoiding injuries during training, I recover more quickly and smoothly after workouts, and my body is more comfortable and relaxed in general.
Just two days ago I strained a neck muscle (Levater scapulae) while doing some pushups. I immediately put pressure directly on the knot, and avoided a spasm that surely would have postponed several days of training. My experience with Julie helped me to identify the muscle, know exactly what was happening to it, and treat quickly. As an added benefit, I'm now able to keep that muscle stretched and conditioned so I can avoid repeating this injury. I've since moved to a different area, but even if I go to another massage therapist, I'll be able to tell him exactly what I need, and I can evaluate for myself how well the therapist is helping me.
If I can convince just one other person to seek the benefits of Julstro -- and enjoy the liberation of being able to achieve the same benefits on their own!-- then that still won't be enough! I want EVERYBODY to know that they can take care of themselves, and how close they really are to being pain free.
I wish you all the best in your own activity,
Dave Horowitz
"I feel like a new person again - I feel free!"
I learned how to treat myself with the help of The Pain-Free Runner eBook. Each time I ran, my muscles would be incredibly tight and burn. Now, I feel like a new person again - I feel free! Thank God for Julie.

"Every time I get a pain now I rest assured knowing there is an answer out there."
I trained hard, and trained smart. I was ready mentally and physically for Ironman. 1 month prior to the race I had awful pain in my low back & hamstring. Nervous about my first IM, I checked the IM Forum daily (if not hourly). Fortunately I saw other people right in about similar issues and - Boom - responses WITH TREATMENTS from Julie came up everywhere. Very rare to find someone to offer such great advice without a) even knowing you; and b) not charging you. Needless to say, I had a great experience, and even finished 3rd in my age group. Not bad for someone who didn't even think they were going to race 2 weeks prior. Every time I get a pain now I rest assured knowing there is an answer out there.

"Hard to believe I could barely walk 4 months earlier..."
Thanks for checking back with me on my Ironman in Kona. I did great in Kona... had a PR. It was an unbelievable experience... one I will never forget. Never had pain and felt great the whole race (as great as you can during an Ironman!!). Hard to believe I could barely walk 4 months earlier. As you know, I had tried everything... PT, Doctors, icing, you name it, nothing helped. I heard about you through other triathletes and contacted you for advice. Also, I downloaded your Pain-Free Triathlete the day it was available. Two weeks later I was running and biking with hardly any discomfort. AMAZING!! I have told everyone about your website and eBooks. I highly recommend it to anyone who has experienced nagging injuries.
I started biking a little and swimming the next week after the race, and am training for the Miami Marathon in Feb. I ran 16 miles yesterday. Thanks for your help. I am certain that your advice and suggestions enabled me to recover, and heal. Lets keep in touch. Hopefully, I won't need your injury advise again!!
Take Care and Happy Holidays,

"THIS IS LIKE A MIRACLE CURE FOR ME..."
I made a post on the Runner's World forum and here (on the Julstro forum) about my SHIN SPLINTS FOR 7 MONTHS. Julie answered my post with what seemed like an overly simple explanation of shin splints. The method of fixing them also seemed too easy. I have shin splints in my left leg on the inside of my leg (the side close to my right leg). She suggested sitting down on a flat surface and taking my RIGHT heel and rubbing it down the inside of my left leg using your hands to apply extra pressure. It not only hurt my leg and pulled the hair out of my leg, but it also WORKED!!! Once I noticed to either wear pants or use a lotion like icy hot or even a moisturizing lotion it also stopped pulling the hair. THIS IS LIKE A MIRACLE CURE FOR ME. I have run four times since I started using this method and had no pain. This is literally the first time in 7 MONTHS I have run that many times pain free. I tried every other piece of advice I could get about shin splints including doctors, orthotics, x-ray/MRI, and too many weeks of not running. I ran hills yesterday for the first time in months. Julie thank you so much this is the best gift I will get for Christmas. Remember to stretch after your run.
Shin Splint Free,
MIKE
If you suffer from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, check out our sister site, the Carpal Tunnel Treatment Center!
"I was told to quit work...one hour changed my life..."
"When the doctor told me I had carpal tunnel syndrome he told me to quit work and just rest my arms. While this was a nice idea, it was also impossible. I didn't want to have surgery and be unable to use my hands for 6-10 weeks, so I just suffered. Finding the Carpal Tunnel Treatment Center was the key to my complete relief from the pain and numbness I had been experiencing. I was able to do the self treatments easily, and quickly returned fully functioning and pain free."
